poem
I wrote a sestina for class. I think I did good, but the rhyme scheme is hard. I focused on the colors of my pictures. I had a lot of purple so I used red and blue. I'm happy that I told a story throughout. It may be simplistic but it uses different words.

#1 Cestina
I like this form it can be a song. I had no idea troubadors used them, I thought they made up their material. Troubadors seem more popular as well. I had the picture they were only in small towns. The galaz is an african chant it is written in Urdu. Every culture has their rhymes

#3 jazz
I really like how Billy Collins is able to use music in his poetry. I like three blind mice and 'Diane even though it doesn't have any lyrics the music makes any one want to dance. I saw a beautiful ballerina dancing around. It also makes me feel very peaceful.

best Collins poem
"This much I remember" I really like the way he expresses the color orange. It takes a lot of talent to see something so ordinary and make it come alive. It takes a stroke of genius then teetering to get something right. I try the write what you know approach i must be doing something wrong. I really do want to grow as a poet im going to try being more bold.

#1 Feb 15
I like Billy Collins' poems they seem like everyday life I feel connected to most of these poems. I tend to write while thinking stream of consciousness I dont worry about forms while I write. The poem about river Susquehanna seems like a thought I would have about Paris I want to go but I probably never will. The whole idea is like a dream

Villanelle
I don't quite understand this form it makes me kind of nervous. I want to repeat the right words I always write from the heart so the thought that it's like a song confuses me. i'm always confused I want to do my best and not sure how to.

rhymes
I think it's cool how we remember songs from our childhood. I mean the songs we sing and the nursery rhymes. Most good songwriters are able to tell a whole story within a 4 minute song and it's really common words that we tend to relate to better. A chorus is just a string of words repeated throughout a song.

#2 words
I know it seems like I've talked about words and their order, but in world lit we discussed how Virgil either shortened parts or changed them. One theory is trying to get a heroic message a way to inspire people. If Aeneus doesn't look brave and able to meet challenges then he'll lose part of his tribe. So the end result is words have power and order promotes changes.

Feb 1 #1 sonnets
I'm starting to understand how difficult it is to write sonnets. I thought it had to be all hearts and flowers, but I wrote it based on a story I heard and it felt more authentic. I like the story feeling of a poem , you can tell a whole idea in a format. I love that and no one can say one person is wrong because your life is your experience.
