fun knowledge
Through taking classes I've found each one builds on the one before. I like the feeling that I know something but I can still grow. I'm gaining information and hope to pass it on. I enjoy the power of words I think it's fun to play around with their order and how the order determines the stress we place on them. you can say I love you or I love you. I'm a food lover and I notice the language they use in commercials to emphasize certain things. The first thing that enters my mind is delicious red apples or fresh vegetables.

week Of January 23 #2
I like the varying lengths of poems by Marie Howe that all seem to be couplets to me I'm not sure if this was a conscious decision. The rhyme scheme is hard to pick up. I like the story format of some of the poems. She talks to her sister and I like the personal touch I had no idea about all the family issues until I read the poems.

week Of January 23 #!
I read all the poems and some were easier than others. I understood the subject matter, but the subject the poems are directed to is unclear. I liked the poem about a normal day in winter it can be applied to anyone. We all enter routines in life for work it's a good thing but when you go home everyone needs excitement. If you enter a routine it's human nature to try to change it up.

#3 words I like
Giggle
ephiphany
amazing
wonderment
joy
bliss
fate
destiny
Words
My nickname is giggles
I just had an epiphany on life.
I have an amazing voice.
Every day is filled with wonderment and joy, just find it
The amazing thing you decide
Every time we kiss it's a magical bliss.
God is the creator of fate and destiny.

poem #2 for week of January 18
Fear
I feel like I straddle two worlds.
I want to be free from this chair.
People do not stare.
Sometimes I do not fit
I used to say I quit
But now I am just me
the woman I am meant to be
I feel like I straddle two worlds.
I want to be free from this chair.
People do not stare.
Sometimes I do not fit
I used to say I quit
But now I am just me
the woman I am meant to be

Week Of January 18 first post
I read the stanza packet and I'm confused. I thought there would be more info other what each one is. I wrote my poem and now I'm thinking of breaking up the lines. I guess it's true a writer is her own worst critic. Write your own truth right?

#3 Free Saturday
On Thursday I overheard a conversation while waiting on the elevator. I had an image in my head, I would take the part I heard and invent the first part. This would be funny if nothing else. I found the most helpful method in writing poetry is being true to myself. In school teachers said write what you know, and now it makes sense.

#2 Friday
I found the poem BFF?? confusing as a reader. We have all been through similar situations, but there was no resolution at the end. My intial reaction is the person is not a friend if someone can not be themselves around you.. I think the title is an attempt to appear more modern but it feels like a ploy.

#1 poems
I like the poem about the father's ashes and the stanza about memories. I think everyone can have memories it's just how you choose to see them. The main idea is to cherish the time you have with loved ones. It reminds me of September 11th 2001 life is so fleeting enjoy every moment.
